Andrew Gackenbach is the Chief Mission & Operating Officer at Goodwill Keystone Area (GKA) located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In his role Andrew oversees GKA's Donated Goods Retail (Thrift) Operations, Mission Services Team and Business Services Contracts Team with a strategic goal to unify the organization under one common mission. Andrew began at GKA as Chief Retail Operations Officer in 2022 before adding additional responsibilities in July 2025. GKA operates 41 thrift retail stores, 2 outlets, 3 warehouses and an e-commerce operation and self manages a transportation fleet while running our own transportation, warehousing, facilities and logistics operations with annual revenue over $90 million. Additionally, Andrew now oversees Mission services with a $4.5 million budget and over 7,000 people served a year and Business Services with 200 employees mostly through Federal Ability One Contracts and State Set Aside Contracts.
Prior to his current role Andrew spent nine years at Goodwill Industries International (GII) growing Goodwill's international efforts in Brazil, Finland and South Korea before pivoting to a role convening innovation and sustainability across the network for two years. After 11 years at GII Andrew went to Goodwill of Southern Nevada in the role of VP of Retail and Business Development. There, Andrew oversaw a Retail and Ecommerce Division with over 700 employees and 16 retail stores.
Andrew holds an Executive MBA from the Fundação Getúlio Vargas Business School in São Paulo, Brazil with coursework done in Portuguese, a Bachelor's degree in Economics and another in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, and a Masters in Practical Theology from the Facultad Teológica Latinoamericana with most course work done in Spanish. He is also a graduate of Goodwill's Senior Leader Program and Executive Development Program. He has been recognized for his achievements, including being selected as one of Forty Under 40 by the Central Penn Business Journal. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and has completed an AI for Decision Making Certificate from Wharton School of Business.
